Highlights

  • The Duomo has to be on your list – marvel at the incredible architecture and frescoes. Not for the faint-hearted but it’s worth booking on a tour to climb to the top of the Cupola, to truly appreciate how something like this was constructed in the 1400s…and being rewarded with breathtaking views across Florence at the end. Head across the river to Piazzale Michelangelo if you want some views of the Duomo itself at sunset.
  • The Uffizi Gallery (Gallerie Degli Uffizi) is home to some incredible works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, to name just a few, and the building itself is pretty impressive. Other notable pieces include ‘The Birth of Venus’ by Botticelli and ‘Bacchus’ by Caravaggio. Get a combined ticket and you can visit the Uffizi, Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens for 3 consecutive days.
  • The Galleria dell'Accademia is home to the most famous sculpture in the world – Michelangelo’s David.
