The city-state is known for being hot all year-round so it’s a great place to get some heat as things get cooler back home. It does get wetter towards the end of the season but the heavy showers happen all year and help to clear the air when the humidity gets too much. Singapore is a small but vibrant city; a complete melting pot of cultures, architecture, food and lots more! From the crazy-rich Asians driving down Orchard Road in their new sports cars to the street stall holders who have been there for years, historic shophouses to modern skyscrapers, street food to Michelin-starred dining – nowhere is quite as diverse. This is also the perfect place to start a longer trip around Asia or even Australia and New Zealand.

Highlights

  • Be blown away by the incredible architecture around Marina Bay – the city skyline, the Esplanade that looks like a pair of durians (the spikey, rotten-smelling fruit that is forbidden to be taken on public transport), the Helix Bridge, the ArtScience Museum that looks like an open water lily and the crowning glory that is Marina Bay Sands – the iconic building that looks like a ship sailing on top of the three towers.
  • Gardens by the Bay is an oasis in the heart of the city; spread over 101 hectares, incorporating three gardens and the largest glass greenhouse in the world, as listed in the 2015 Guinness World Records. Since opening in 2009, it has won international acclaim and multiple awards.
  • Sentosa is a small island located to the south of the city and literally translates as “peace and tranquility”. Although there are relaxing spas, luxury hotels, golf courses, pristine beaches and lush rainforests, other parts are anything but peaceful! This is Singapore’s playground – for children and adults!
